Debi J2023-09-26Verified DON"T STAY HERE! WARNING PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING!!!!! My husband and I checked in Thurs Sept 28, 2023 after driving from Louisiana for our 42nd Wedding Anniversary. We planned to stay in the Hummingbird Cabin at $299.00 per night from 9-21 to 9-30-2023 before ELK FEST.. (10 nights = over $3000.00 + tax) I had to leave on advice from my pulmonary dr, because my pulse oxygen was 88 and wouldn't come up. Beth, informed us Idlewilde at the River doesn't refund $$ no matter what the circumstance.. Not even for medical reasons! On advice from my pulmonologist, We had to leave Sat Morning, 9/23/23 at 10 am, drove straight through, arrived at home at 5:10 AM Sunday morning. Our Total Charge was $299 night at 10 nights plus tax, = $3000.00. We only stayed 2 nights because of medical reasons, After strongly suggesting a refund, on Tuesday 9/26 Beth gave us $649.52 refund. Her response.. I couldn't book 1 night so you are responsible for that night however I was fortunate enough to give someone else a 1/2 price rate to help you out, However you would be responsible for paying the remainder of that couples rate which totaled the remainder of the rate. IE: Me a sick person which had to be taken by ambulance to the ER on Sunday night when I returned home, is paying for 1/2 of a total healthy persons rate just because they need the money. Review on the inside: The beds were extremely old and hard, bathroom sink leaked, no outlet for hairdryer in bathroom where I could see in a mirror, over 6 electric sockets were loose in all rooms and we couldn't plug in our electronic devices, tiny refrigerator. My sleep consisted of 4 hours on a love seat with a travel oxygen concentrator durning my entire stay from 9-21 to 9-23. Anyone can run a business, however Customer Service is the most important thing in the HOSPITALITY BUSINESS! IF YOU VALUE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY --- IF YOU DON"T THINK PEOPLE SHOULD CHARGE YOU JUST BECAUSE THEY WANT TO.....DON"T STAY HERE! YOU WON"T GET YOUR MONEY BACK! Debi Johnson Shreveport, Louisiana debi@s-bch.com Shirley G2023-08-28Verified A Great Time at Idlewilde by the River We especially loved the location of Idlewilde--on the mountain stream, close to the park entrance, and close to the YMCA camp. We loved being right on the river and hearing its soothing sounds. Mike and Beth, the managers, were great to work with--very responsive and helpful. They keep the grounds and cabins clean and well cared for. The cabins even had new pots and pans and other amenities. The new owners are doing a great job updating everything, and it sounds like they have even more planned. Steve and Shirley Gayle Robb C2023-08-14Verified THIS is the place! Stay Here! It is just wonderful! They have everything you need (and more), the cabins are beautiful (we stayed in three over the week we were there), the location is perfect. The river is gorgeous, with lots of wildlife to watch from your back door. Mike and Beth were amazing. They go out of their way to be sure you are as happy as possible. By the time we left, they felt like friends. When back in Estes Park, that's where we'll be. Holly D2023-07-07Verified Peace by the river Enjoyed the quiet of the cabin and thoughtfulness of the amenities in the cabin - extra throw blankets, pain relievers, fan, etc. The office had games and DVDs available for use. Especially enjoyed the covered patio with porch swing. Lynds P2023-07-06Verified Quiet, beautiful, vintage retreat spot This is a GREAT little retreat spot. We came last year and stayed in the “Riverside“ cabin. This year it was with family, so we chose“Linger Longer “ cabin. All the cabins are within just feet of the river, which you can hear 24/7...fabulous! Vintage cabins have ample space between them, interspersed with beautiful, mature conifer trees. Don’t count on ample cell signal or WiFi, ours was randomly spotty. But that made for very quiet and low tech calm! Website said extra cots available for this cabin, although when we got there, we found out otherwise, so had to improvise with a memory foam pad from one of the beds. That aside, we had a great stay and will be back next year! Bob L2023-06-24Verified Colorado vacation We enjoyed our stay at Idlewild very much. Our cabin was clean and well stocked. There were some new updated kitchen items that we were the first to use, it appeared. The grill right outside the door was very handy as well. Being able to sit outside by the river listening to the rushing water of the Big Thompson was very relaxing. For us, the close proximity to the Rocky Mountain National Park was important as we spent three days in the park. Mike and Beth were very friendly and helpful and provided good communication. They were also responsive to any questions or concerns we had. We would highly recommend Idlewild by the River as an option for lodging when you visit Estes Park. Jill M2022-10-25Verified Nature at it's best! We had a great time at Idlewilde. The cabin was rustic but very comfortable. We could hear the river inside the cabin and felt very relaxed. Beth and Mike were super friendly and helpful. We plan to stay again. Denise G2022-10-22Verified Great cabin, by the river Awesome cabin, by the river, elk and deer abound (and a bunny). Mike and Beth were by far, the nicest, most responsive managers. Nice common areas to grill and sit by the river. Cabin very clean, basic kitchen. Quick drive to downtown-plenty of places to eat, coffee shops, rock shop and great hiking around Lily Lake and right next to Rocky Mountain National Park. naomi n2022-09-02Verified Very relaxing property right on the Big Thompson We had a 2 bedroom cabin within a short distance to the river. Cabins are old, but very clean and accommodating. They were furnished well and we were comfortable while staying there. We will definitely stay at Idlewilde again next year. They are always full, so have to book yet this year I think. Popular place! Karen N2022-08-25Verified Slice of paradise This property was wonderful. All that we were looking for and more. There was nothing between our front porch and the river. The property provided chairs to sit by the river along with a picnic table, and grills. The cabin was comfortable and clean and the kitchen contained all we needed other than things like salt and pepper, paper towels etc. Was within 10 min of Rocky Mtn Natl Park entrances and a mile from Estes park. The neighboring cabins were close, but it still felt private. We hope to be able to return to this lovely property.Load more
Joy Wu2024-12-04Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My friends and I lived in the Idlewilde by the River, #14 Naughty Pine August, 2024. The stay cost us $523.07, which is not cheap. But The stay was terrible. Firstly, the air conditioning was not functioning and the second floor is extremely hot. Secondly, the supply of hot water in the shower was inadequate; after the third person used it, there was no hot water remaining. Lastly, I attempted to contact the on-site managers and the emergency hotline but there was no one pick up the phone. We had a really bad stay here. Manager Emily promised to gave us a refund but she never give me a reply and disappear. I am writing this review everywhere to help you avoid this place. Charming and rustic 1930’s cabins clean, cozy, and stocked with all the essentials. Gorgeous location on the river just outside the main drag of Estes Park. Quick and easy to get to RMNP. The weather turned cold while we were there and we had a problem with our heat. We called and Alex came and fixed it for us right away! Wonderful vacation. We’ll be back! dorothy Mullikin2024-10-12Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our family of 6 seniors truly enjoyed our stay in Naughty Pine. The cabin provided much more than we expected and we were quite comfortable. The outside was perfect and the deer and elk cooperated beautifully for pictures! It was a new experience for four of us and two of us were repeats. Management was very patient as we navigated on-line for the first time. John Curry2024-10-08Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our cabin at Idlewilde was spotless, pleasantly decorated, and spacious. The kitchen was well-stocked with cooking equipment. The property borders on the Big Thompson River and the cascade of water over the rocks make a lovely sound to sleep to. Highly recommended! Quite a few cabins are directly on the river, and it's gorgeous. We watched an elk directly across the river, walk across the river and come up the bank right in front of our cabin and mosey past it off to the side. PLEASE, be aware, respectful, and careful of wildlife! We were inside the porch on the comfy porch swing. The added improvements of Wi-Fi and the Keurig coffee with K-Cups were welcome additions. We also had 5G which was new . Everything looked spruced up with the new owners. Let's also talk about the self-check-in! Wow, what a fantastic improvement! You get a code in the email that lets you unlock your door. It definitely gives you more freedom. Will we be back to Idlewild by the River? Absolutely! ❤️❣️❤️ Joe Martin2024-09-18Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Management and staff were very responsive to requests. Only thing I would say is have the maids carry out the trash instead of the customers. Too hard to get into trash containers. Sheri Coles2024-09-14Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I booked a cabin at Idlewilde for a family celebration. It was wonderful to have the space to spread out and be comfortable for a few days. The full sized kitchen was fully stocked and we went to the grocery store and didn’t need to eat out every single meal. Sitting by the river was relaxing. Being within a mile of the NP entrance was convenient. Overall it was a lovely vacation and we would definitely do it again. Michael Vrchota2024-09-04Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Not what it used to be. Never staid in the Aloha before but very similar to their other cabins. If you don't mind getting on the floor to get to the bottom of the dorm room fridge it did work. Tv service was a pain in the but. I wasn't informed that i need to take a Roku class to watch the nightly news if the service is working. Don't expect to swing on their porch swing. I am sure its been like that for years but it did not add an experiencing to our trip. Its not like its the worst but we used to thing it was the top of the line. Now we want to look for someplace with a great experience. Georgia Fogle2024-08-26Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Very beautiful and peaceful place! I had a wonderful experience staying here. The location is perfect, with beautiful surroundings and a serene atmosphere. The rooms are neat and clean, providing a comfortable and cozy stay. One of the best parts was the cabin being so close to the river, offering stunning views and a peaceful environment. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing getaway!Load more
